Hi, I'm Bhavna Kanoria

Being the founder of this venture, Matter.Party was the result of an interesting meandering path for me. Having studied English Literature and Interior Design, I worked as an interior designer, but soon realized that I didn’t see my future in it.

Instead I yearned to solve a lot of the real problems I saw around me. Climate change, its impact on the planet and our impact on the planet and its climate bothered me deeply and I chose to shift focus to that instead. I wanted to show our children that they could do things differently from us and build sustainable practices into their lives.

 

I started with a gift registry website (to reduce the sheer volume of things kids accumulate on a birthday), moved to launching a social gifting platform (to encourage children to raise money for a cause instead of receiving gifts) and finally launched this rentable party decor range, made from textile waste. It’s my way of making a small change in how we celebrate, leaving a cleaner and healthier planet for our children.
